Torchinsky. The piece opens rather freely setting the tone for the harmonic material in the composition. It gradually takes on a more structured shape, leading into an allegro with blazing fast 32nd note runs and much syncopation. The middle section involves the trading of sustained chords between marimbas, then a simple theme presented in eighth notes by the vibraphone. The piece closes with the allegro material from earlier.
