FRANKLIN D. ADAMS, Jr. (b. 1966)
Franklin Adams holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Anderson University (Anderson, IN) (1989) where he was named to the National Dean's List, was inducted into the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honors Society, and served as the student arranger for the Anderson University Wind Ensemble. He has taken post-graduate classes at Kent State University in band instrument repair and music technology, and holds a current teaching license in Ohio for music K-12.
He is a founding member and an administrator for the non-profit organization MusicAlliance Inc., which provides band programs for parochial schools in the Greater Cleveland area. Mr. Adams currently teaches 4th through 8th grade band at two schools: St. Gabriel – where he has taught band for the past thirteen years, and St. Mary School. During his tenure at St. Gabriel, Mr. Adams has overseen the growth of the band program from 20 band members and 2 levels of band to over 100 members and 4 levels of band plus a Jazz Band (which is the only Junior High jazz band from a parochial school to perform in the Lakeland Jazz Festival). His other duties with MusicAlliance include serving as webmaster for the organization's website and serving as the coordinator and co-director of the East Side Honor Band program.
In addition, Franklin founded and directs "Phresh Phusion", a jazz ensemble featuring students from high schools throughout Northeastern Ohio; founded and directs the Sonic Storm Pep Band for the Lake Erie College Athletic Department; and is a freelance composer of band music - currently published through C. Alan Publications. Mr. Adams holds professional membership in the Music Educators National Conference, the Ohio Music Education Association, and the International Association of Jazz Educators.
