KARL BLENCH (b. 1981)
Karl Blench is currently pursuing his Masters of Music degree in Composition at Rice University in Houston, TX. He is currently a student of Pierre Jalbert. Mr. Blench’s prior compositional studies include studying with Shih-Hui Chen, Andrew Boysen, Christopher Kies, and Lori Dobbins. He holds a BM in Music Education and a BA in Theory/Composition from the University of New Hampshire. Karl’s music has been played throughout the country, including the famed Carnegie Hall. He has received several commissions and awards, including winning the Fourth Annual H. Robert Reynolds Composers Competition for his wind ensemble piece, “Momentum.” As a trombonist, he has studied with Nic Orovich and played in the Boston Philharmonic under Benjamin Zander. As a conductor, Karl has studied with Andrew Boysen and William Kempster at the University of New Hampshire.
