NICHOLAS CHERNICH (b. 1987)

Nicholas Chernich (b. 1987) is a percussionist, composer, and educator residing in Freeland, Michigan. Currently he is a Music Education Major at Saginaw Valley State University. He is a founding member of the SVSU Percussion Ensemble along with being Section Leader/First Chair percussionist for the SVSU Marching Band and Concert Band. He performs frequently with the Saginaw Eddy Concert Band and the Saginaw Area Concert Band.

Through his previous college and work experience, he has developed a strong background and interest in offering the highest quality percussion literature to his students. He has written etudes, exercises, and solos to help give his students a well-balanced background in percussion. He is currently studying composition with Catherine McMichael and percussion with David M. Valasek. His other instructors have included William E. Shephard, Mary Ellen Bartlett, and Mike Curtiss.
