MATTHEW MOORE (b. 1985)

Matthew MooreMatthew Moore (b. 1985) is a freelance percussionist, educator, composer, arranger, and adjudicator in the Dallas / Fort Worth area, where he holds a Graduate Assistantship at Texas Christian University. He is also in his fourth season as a member of the percussion staff for the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps.

Mr. Moore's experience in music is highly diverse, beginning with piano, percussion, and vocal studies from the age of five, continuing through playing horn in middle and high school band before focusing on percussion in college and beyond. From 2008 to 2010, Moore was the Assistant Director of Percussion Studies at Colleyville Heritage High School in Colleyville, TX, and also the primary percussion private lesson teacher at Colleyville Middle School and Heritage Middle School, where he composed for percussion ensembles from the 7th grade level up through high school. In 2009, Moore arranged the front ensemble score for the Lone Star Drumline Competition marching division winner and "best pit" caption award winner Colleyville-Heritage drumline. At Texas Christian University, Moore currently arranges for and conducts the undergraduate percussion ensemble, teaches private lessons, rehearses the drumline, and performs other instructional and organizational duties.

Moore has received many compositional accolades. His piece for vibraphone and recorded accompaniment, Music for Vibraphone and Electronica, is winner of the 2011 Jonathan Durington Award for Music Composition. Jabberwocky, for solo soprano and piano accompaniment, was chosen to be performed at the 2011 Fort Worth Contemporary Music Fund Call for Scores concert. In 2008, Moore received first place in the Kentucky Music Educators Association's Collegiate Composition category with his piece for solo marimba, Prelude. He went on to perform the winning piece at the KMEA 2008 convention at Whitney Hall in the Kentucky Center for the Arts. Prior to living in Texas, Moore instructed and arranged for various high school, collegiate, and independent programs in Kentucky, including the Campbellsville University Marching Band, Speed Indoor Percussion, and 2008 Bands of America Class A Grand National Champion Adair County High School. As a marching performer, he was a part of numerous Drum Corps and Winter Guard International programs, including Carolina Crown, Southwind, and 2008 World Champion Rhythm X Indoor Percussion.

Moore holds a Bachelor’s degree with honors from Campbellsville University in KY, and lives with his wife Aline in Euless, TX.
