Jules Pegram (b. 1991) is a composer based in both Greensboro, NC and Los Angeles, CA. His music, which has been described as “full of skill and love,” has been performed by ensembles on both coasts. Pegram, a member of the American Composers Forum, enjoys writing for a wide variety of mediums, including concert band, string orchestra, marching band, chorus, chamber groups, and full orchestra. His first orchestral work, Earthquake, made him a runner-up in Notion Music’s 2nd Annual Realize Music Challenge, an international composition competition judged by composers John Corigliano, Lawrence Dillon, and Carter Burwell. Entries were submitted from the United States, Canada, Russia, and Australia, among others; Pegram was the only American under 18 to receive an award. Earthquake was premiered by the Greensboro Symphony Youth Orchestra in May 2009. Aside from composing and conducting, Pegram plays classical piano and French horn. He also enjoys traveling, foods, and speaking Spanish.
