MARY JEANNE van APPLEDORN (b. 1927)

Mary Jeanne van AppledornMary Jeanne van Appledorn holds the prestigious Paul Whitfield Horn Professorship in Music Composition.  She earned her Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees at the Eastman School of Music, and made her solo piano debut at Weill Recital Hall at New York City's Carnegie Hall in 1956.  In 1982, she completed studies in computer-synthesized sound techniques at Texas Tech and has been on the faculty there since 1950.  As a composer, she has won several ASCAP Standard Panel Awards between 1980 and 1996.  In addition, her compositions are published, performed, and recorded internationally.
